Hi everyone! I’m Alisha. |
Welcome to Conversational Phrases! |
We’ve found that the best way to learn a language is to speak it from day one! And the best way to start speaking is to learn phrases that you’ll use in real conversations. |
In this lesson, you’ll learn conversational phrases to answer the question, "What are you doing?" After watching this video, you’ll be able to answer this question and tell someone something about what you’re writing. |
Now, let’s take a look at some conversational phrases! |
Listen to the dialogue. |
چی کار می کنید؟ |
(chikaar mikonid?) |
من ژورنالم رو می نویسم. |
(man zhornaalam ro minevisam.) |
Once more with the English translation. |
چی کار می کنید؟ |
(chikaar mikonid?) |
“What are you doing?” |
من ژورنالم رو می نویسم. |
(man zhornaalam ro minevisam.) |
“I'm writing my journal.” |
First of all you'll need to learn how to say “What are you doing?” |
That's: |
چی کار می کنید؟ |
(chikaar mikonid?) |
Listen to it again: |
چی کار می کنید؟, چی کار می کنید؟ |
(chikaar mikonid?, chikaar mikonid?) |
This Persian sentence literally translates as “What action you doing?" |
But it means “What are you doing?”. |
Now, how do you answer this question? |
The pattern is: |
من [object] رو می نویسم. (man [object] ro minevisam.) |
This Persian sentence literally translates as “I [object] writing." |
But it means “I'm writing [object].” |
For example: |
“I'm writing my journal.” |
من ژورنالم رو می نویسم., من ژورنالم رو می نویسم. |
(man zhornaalam ro minevisam., man zhornaalam ro minevisam.) |
