Hi everyone! I'm Alisha. |
Welcome to Conversational Phrases! |
We've found that the best way to learn a language is to speak it from day one! And the best way to start speaking is to learn phrases that you'll use in real conversations. |
In this lesson, you'll learn conversational phrases to use when apologizing to someone. After watching this video, you'll be able to apologize and say what you're apologizing for. |
Now, let's take a look at some conversational phrases! |
Listen to the dialogue. |
متاسفم که دیر کردم. |
(mate'assefam ke dir kardam.) |
نگرانش نباش. |
(nagaraanesh nabaash.) |
Once more with the English translation. |
متاسفم که دیر کردم. |
(mate'assefam ke dir kardam.) |
“I'm sorry for being late.” |
نگرانش نباش. |
(nagaraanesh nabaash.) |
“Don't worry about it.” |
First of all you'll need to learn how to say "I'm sorry for [reason]." |
The pattern is: |
متاسفم که [reason]. |
(mote'assefam ke [reason].) |
This Persian sentence literally translates as "I'm sorry that [reason]." But it means "I'm sorry for [reason].". |
For example: |
"I'm sorry for being late." |
متاسفم که دیر کردم., متاسفم که دیر کردم. |
(mate'assefam ke dir kardam., mate'assefam ke dir kardam.) |
Now, how do you respond that it's okay? |
نگرانش نباش. |
(nagaraanesh nabaash.) |
"Don't worry about it." |
Listen to it again: |
نگرانش نباش., نگرانش نباش. |
(nagaraanesh nabaash., nagaraanesh nabaash.) |
This Persian sentence translates as "Worry for that don't be." But it means "Don't worry about it." |
