John: Must-Know Persian Social Media Phrases Season 1. Lesson 24 - At a wedding party.
John: Hi everyone, I'm John.
Mehrnaz: And I'm Mehrnaz.
John: In this lesson, you'll learn how to post and leave comments in Persian about a wedding. شبنم (Shabnam) celebrates her sister’s wedding with her family, posts an image of it, and leaves this comment:
Mehrnaz: خواهر کوچولوی (کوچک) من چه زود بزرگ شد! (khaaha-e koochooloo-ye (koochak-e ) man cheh zood bozorg shod!)
John: Meaning - "How fast my little sister grew up!" Listen to a reading of the post and the comments that follow.

POST
John: Listen again to شبنم (Shabnam)'s post.
Mehrnaz: خواهر کوچولوی (کوچک) من چه زود بزرگ شد! (khaaha-e koochooloo-ye (koochak-e ) man cheh zood bozorg shod!)
John: "How fast my little sister grew up!"
Mehrnaz: (SLOW) خواهر کوچولوی (کوچک) من چه زود بزرگ شد! (khaaha-e koochooloo-ye (koochak-e ) man cheh zood bozorg shod!) (Regular) خواهر کوچولوی (کوچک) من چه زود بزرگ شد! (khaaha-e koochooloo-ye (koochak-e ) man cheh zood bozorg shod!)
John: Let's break this down. First is an expression meaning "my little sister."
Mehrnaz: خواهر کوچولوی (کوچک) من (khaaha-e koochooloo-ye (koochak-e ) man)
John: The first word…
Mehrnaz: کوچولو, (koochooloo)
John: means "little," "tiny."
Mehrnaz: It’s the colloquial form of کوچک, (koochak). Since کوچولو, (koochooloo) ends in و , (oo), we need a linking ی, (ye)
John: This makes it easier to pronounce the phrase. Listen again - "my little sister" is...
Mehrnaz: (SLOW) خواهر کوچولوی (کوچک) من (khaaha-e koochooloo-ye (koochak-e ) man) (REGULAR) خواهر کوچولوی (کوچک) من (khaaha-e koochooloo-ye (koochak-e ) man)
John: Then comes the phrase literally meaning - "how fast grew up."
Mehrnaz: چه زود بزرگ شد! (cheh zood bozorg shod!)
John: First we have...
Mehrnaz: بزرگ شد, (bozorg shod)
John: Or, "grew up." Literally, this means "became big." It’s the past tense of the verb...
Mehrnaz: بزرگ شدن, (bozorg shodan)
John: meaning "to grow up" and conjugated for the third person singular. Listen again - "how fast grew up" is...
Mehrnaz: (SLOW) چه زود بزرگ شد! (cheh zood bozorg shod!) (REGULAR) چه زود بزرگ شد! (cheh zood bozorg shod!)
John: All together, "How fast my little sister grew up!"
Mehrnaz: خواهر کوچولوی (کوچک) من چه زود بزرگ شد! (khaaha-e koochooloo-ye (koochak-e ) man cheh zood bozorg shod!)
